The Healing Garden is expanding!
Construction began in February and is moving full-speed-ahead.  We will be keeping you updated on the progress with current photos right here on our website.  We hope you will continue to follow our growth.

The new building will include more treatment rooms and renovated office space, as well as a large meeting room that will accommodate a variety of programs, workshops and continuing education classes for professionals.  We also are excited about our new Garden Room, which will hold our support groups and smaller gatherings.  It will be glassed-in, overlooking our new and beautiful water feature, incorporating the Healing Garden into its lovely surroundings. The building’s designer is David Durrant of Harvard, and the builder is Jonathan Mechlin of Bolton.

Welcome

to the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden.

Our Mission:  Incorporated in 2000, the Healing Garden is an educational non-profit organization.
Our objective is to provide a healing environment that provides a range of complementary therapies, psychosocial support, educational programs and access to nature for those experiencing breast cancer. All therapies are integrated with and complementary to standard medical treatment for breast cancer.

Our Philosophy and Goals:  We believe that breast cancer results from many complex processes in the body and is influenced by the environment in which we live.  Some risk factors are identifiable but there is no single cause of cancer.  We believe that women should not be blamed for their cancer.  Our goals are to enable women to find the support they need, to learn about informed choices that contribute to their health, to learn to manage their stress and improve their quality of life, and to regain control of their health both during and after treatment.

Our Services:  are offered regardless of one’s ability to pay. No one will be turned away from receiving support at the Healing Garden.

Our Therapists:  are seasoned professionals who are committed to helping those whose lives are challenged by breast cancer.

Our Setting:  provides the connection with nature that is now recognized as beneficial to one’s healing.  We welcome the public, as well as our clients, to enjoy the surroundings of Ginny's garden.   This beautiful ten-acre property is  full of quiet meditative areas, flowering plants, large trees and fountains and a koi pond.  It is a tranquil and healing garden and a source of spiritual renewal - unique in the New England area.
