Healing Garden
A Community of Support for Women with Breast Cancer

We Would Like to Extend Our Heartfelt Thanks
to All of Our Friends & Supporters.

The Just 'Cause Walkers, a group of forty-one dedicated women, walked 60 miles (in the pouring rain)on May 18-20th on behalf of The Healing Garden and The Gillette Center at Mass General.  They raised an amazing $161,719!  We are deeply grateful for this wonderful group of women and the many volunteers who support their efforts.  A special thanks to organizers Jo Edmunds, Noreen Beck, Tina Flagherty, and Sarah Mitchell.  For more information www.justcausewalk.com.

We owe deep thanks to Tucker Smith, of Groton, who is our garden volunteer extraordinare.  Tucker coordinates the many garden clubs who offer their time and talent to the Healing Garden.  She also serves as the Healing Garden representative for the Board of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, in honor of Virginia Thurston.  We are particularly thankful for the steady support of Trish Woods of the Stow Garden Club, Karen Morganelli of the Marlborough Garden Club, Terry Schwulst of the Groton Garden Club, and Cynthia Burghard, who are loving enthusiasts of the Garden.

Tina Storm also has organized for two years in a row a remarkable gathering of scrapbookers who work into the wee hours at the Crop for Healing held in Charlestown.  This year they raised over $5,000 for the Healing Garden. For more info go to www.mysite.verizon.net/cropforhealing/

We are so fortunate for collaborating with Susan's Retreats, Inc., dedicated to providing breast cancer patients with a break from life in treatment; a short stay at resort location to clear the mind, rest, relax, and engage the spirit of hope.  See www.SusansRetreat.org. This generous organization has sponsored many Healing Garden clients, and we are grateful for their efforts.

Roberta Hershon, whose organization, Hope in Bloom, plants gardens at no charge at the homes of women and men undergoing treatment for breast cancer. www.hopeinbloom.org
