Exercise/Movement

Exercise for the client dealing with cancer has the same benefits as for the general population, including increased level of fitness, greater muscle strength, leaner body mass, and better weight management. Exercise also releases endorphins, which improve mood and can help with sleep. We know how to evaluate your current status and help you get started gently.

QiGong

This is a precursor to Traditional Chinese Medicine which incorporates slow, coordinated movements with breathing, and mind calming techniques to release the Qi energy force within the body to promote healing and balance. Through these techniques, the relaxation response is stimulated thereby promoting the lymph system. This helps the body rid itself of toxins and waste.

Yoga

Significant benefits can be gained from the practice of yoga than can help deal with diagnosis to post treatment.

Pre-Treatment- Calm your nervous system, detach from anxiety

During Treatment- Improve circulation of body fluids, (when possible) lengthen muscles shortened from immobility, relax the body and mind, increase oxygen supply to cells, take charge of your own well-being and be proactive.

Post Surgery- Regain mobility and alignment, lengthen connective tissues, work on scar tissue adhesions from the inside, reinforce balance when standing and walking and relax deeply for healing.

Post Treatment- Renew relationship with your body, acknowledge and adapt to changes in your body, strengthen and regain flexibility, reintegrate all systems and find focus.

Long Range- Learn skill and body awareness to improve and maintain health.

Mat Pilates

Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body. The blend of strength and flexibility improves posture and reduces stress.
